FAQ

Food compliance questions

Does Amazon require a Nutrition Facts image?

Amazon typically asks for clear label images, including the Nutrition Facts panel and ingredient list. Verid8 flags a listing whose gallery has no readable panel.

When can a food listing say “high protein”?

Only when one serving provides at least 20% of the Daily Value for protein, which is 10 g (21 CFR 101.54(b)). Below that, state the grams instead.

What makes an allergen statement valid?

It names each major food allergen by its common name, and for tree nuts, fish and shellfish the specific type, such as almond, cod or shrimp. Sesame has been a major allergen since 2023.

Do California’s additive laws affect my Amazon listing?

Yes, if you sell into California. AB 418 bans Red Dye No. 3, brominated vegetable oil, potassium bromate and propylparaben in food sold there from January 1, 2027.

Does unpasteurized juice need a warning?

Yes. Juice not processed to a 5-log pathogen reduction must carry FDA’s warning statement (21 CFR 101.17(g)), and the listing should show it.

Does Verid8 check organic claims?

Yes. An “organic” claim is flagged when no USDA organic certificate is on file in your documents.
