FAQ

Beauty compliance questions

Does MoCRA apply to cosmetics sold on Amazon?

Yes. MoCRA covers cosmetics sold in the US through any channel: facility registration, product listing, safety substantiation, adverse-event reporting and a US contact on the label, with limited small-business exemptions.

Can a cosmetic listing claim to treat acne or eczema?

No. A claim to treat or prevent a disease makes the product a drug. Acne treatment claims are allowed only on OTC drugs that follow the acne monograph.

Why is my “paraben-free” claim flagged?

Because the ingredient list in your label image includes a paraben. Verid8 compares every free-from claim with the INCI list it reads from your images.

Does my perfume need hazmat review?

Usually. Alcohol-based fragrances are flammable, so Amazon’s dangerous goods review asks for a safety data sheet before they can ship through FBA.

Can I say “dermatologist tested”?

Yes, if you have the test on file. The FTC expects substantiation for test claims, and Verid8 flags the claim when no report is in your documents.

Does Verid8 read ingredient lists inside images?

Yes. It reads text in gallery and label images, including the INCI list and warnings.
